I am definitively against all popular large-scale generative AI as it currently exists.

I believe that OpenAI, Anthropic, NVIDIA, and the other massive tech corporations that have made AI their primary business are exploiting the collective fields of computer science and machine learning, the entire internet and everyone who has ever published anything online, the current economic desperation of the average person, the already endangered climate of our home planet, and their own disproportionate financial and political power to further stratify society and extract wealth that they do not need.

I believe that these companies, and the economy at large, are MASSIVELY overinvested in this technology, and that there is an inevitable economic correction on the way in the near future. I think it is professionaly irresponsible to irrevocably couple skills, output, and infrastructure to such an economically brittle technology.

I personally find the thought of doing any kind of creative or expressive work through generative AI, including programming, utterly revolting and completely in opposition to the reason I care about these pursuits. I do not want to, nor do I believe we have to, build a future where individual expression are dead just because it makes more money (which, so far, it demonstrably hasn't).

Finally, I believe that AI companies are aware of the very real harm their products are causing, including grooming vulnerable people to die by suicide or harm others, accelerating climate collapse, and contributing to steadily increasing economic inequality. I believe they actively choose to ignore these problems and push ahead in order to make a profit at the cost of human lives.

I will never knowingly use anything made by these companies or build anything that helps them in any way. I will do my best to avoid anything made using their products. I firmly believe that any short-term productivity gains from this technology are not only not worth the cost, they are actively borrowing from our collective futures in a way I cannot condone.
