I stand with artists, climate activists, and my fellow programmers who do not want it anywhere near us or our work. Hi! My name is Echo (she/they). Welcome to my website!

I'm a programmer from Vancouver, BC in Canada. I love computers and I love writing code. In particular, I like to make doing human being things with computers easier, like making art, doing science, and talking to other human beings. I also like to do those things myself, along with spending time in nature, going to movies and shows, reading comics, and playing games.

As A Programmer

My primary interest currently is in game engines, especially lower-spec ones that can be used by anyone, not just massive AAA teams. I don't really like any of the commercial off-the-shelf engines currently on the market, so I would really like to make my own.

Another big project I have in mind is a programming language. I really like Rust, but ideally I would love to marry its common-sense-ness with something like Haskell's functional magic, to create something that is both easy and intuitive to understand and more powerful than typical procedural languages.

Aside from those projects, I am currently available to hire for short-to-medium-term contracts. If you need:

Then please reach out! I charge a standard CAD $80/hour. For clients with 10+ employees, this is non-negotiable. For smaller organizations and individuals, especially community-focused ones, this rate is flexible.

I have over 10 years of professional experience in the tech industry, including as a senior programmer on a database engine deployed at several Fortune 500 companies and as an engine programmer at an AAA game studio. You can read my CV if you like.

As An Artist

While I don't have nearly the chops for creative work that I do for computer touching, I do really enjoy traditional and digital illustration, video editing, composing and producing music, game and level design, making pixel art, and writing. I will soon have examples of all of these things here on my website. If you have a low-stakes project and like my style, please contact me! I would love to help with game jams, community art projects, YouTube videos, stuff like that.
