COMPOST entries
So. Cohost was a small social media site that operated from 2022 to 2024. While I was on it, an event called COMPOST ran a total of 6 times, of which I participated in 4. The goal was to make a song that matched a theme in two hours.
I don't think any of these tracks are great, but they each have something kind of fun and different about them from my usual music. I really like Goblin Treasure, but it's just too short for me to call it a real song.
COMPOST #1: Hard Boiled Eggbug (Theme: "Incognito")
I tried to make this one sound funky. I think I did an okay job.
COMPOST #3: Goblin Treasure (Theme: "Goblin Mode")
I channeled Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles so hard for this one. I only got about 16 seconds of music by the end of the two hours, but it's one of my favorite tracks I've ever made.
COMPOST #4: 4 A.M. Meringues (Theme: "Baking")
This one I wasn't feeling super inspired by the prompt, so I went kind of experimental and decided to record something through MIDI input instead of programming it. I fixed up the timing of the faster parts afterwards, but the rest is as I played it. I'm no piano player, so the timing is far from perfect, but it doesn't really matter for such an intimate song. In the end I don't love it but I think I'm fine with it.
COMPOST #6: Party At The End Of The World (Theme: "Party")
This was the final COMPOST before Cohost shut down. I was kind of frustrated about that as I made this. I think that came through in how weird and crazy it gets. I don't know what kind of party this is, but I think I would leave.
